First Time, First-Year Freshman Admission Requirements

  • GPA Requirements
    Student must receive a minimum A-G GPA of 2.5 or higher for California residents or graduates of California high schools (3.0 for non-California residents).
  • A-G Requirements
    Students must complete all A-G college preparatory coursework with grades of C- or better. For Fall 2022, A-G coursework with a Pass/Credit taken during Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall 2020 terms and during Winter, Spring or Summer 2021 terms will be considered to fulfill A-G requirements.
  • Graduation Requirement
    Students must graduate from high school or equivalent.

Transfer Admission Requirements

Transfer students are eligible for admission to CSUDH if they meet the following requirements. 

  1. Have completed 6 transferable semester units (8 quarter units) of general education courses, graded C- or better in each course including:
    • Have completed 1 course of 3 semester (4 quarter) units in written communication
    • Have completed 1 course of 3 semester (4 quarter) units in mathematics/quantitative reasoning. The mathematics course must be above the level of intermediate algebra.Go to ASSIST.org for listings of CCC courses that meet the general education requirements.
  2. Have achieved an overall grade point average (GPA) of 2.00 or better in all transferable college units attempted. This GPA is calculated using all your transfer units attempted.
  3. Be in good standing at the last college or university attended (i.e. eligible to re–enroll at that college or university).

Next application period: SPRING 2024

  • Applicants must apply via the online Cal State Apply application between August 1, 2023 and September 30, 2023.

*Applicants who will transfer 59 units or less by Summer 2023 are required to submit an official high school transcript by the deadline listed on the To Do List. This transfer plan clears all course deficiencies that might have occurred in high school.

How To Begin

  1. Submit your University Admission application via Cal State Apply with application fee.
  2. Submit official transcripts of all the schools you have attended.
    1. Student may also submit GE Certification. (Optional, but highly recommended)

    An official transcript is required from each college or university attended. Send transcripts directly to Admissions and Records, NOT to the Human Services department. Additionally, request a copy to be sent directly to you for your personal portfolio and for use with your advisor when discussing your program. Transcripts should be ordered at least 4 weeks prior to the respective deadline date, and it is strongly suggested that prior schools send all transcripts electronically.
