QUALITY CERTIFICATION OPPORTUNITIES AT CSUDH

California State University Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) in cooperation with the Los Angeles Section 0700 can help you prepare for the ASQ Certification. CSUDH offers non-credit refresher courses that are designed to aid the Quality Practitioner pass the ASQ professional certification examination. This certification is a recognized professional accomplishment bound to enhance your career and personal marketability.

NBQA 701 | Certified Quality Management/ Organizational Excellence Exam Preparation Capstone

NBQA 701 41 CQM/OE Refresher Course

This course is designed as a refresher course to prepare applicants for ASQ’s CMQ/OE exam.

An e-badge will be awarded for the successful completion of this class. MSQA students who have completed QAS 511, QAS 518, and either QAS 526 or QAS 527, can earn a second e-badge Certificate of Completion in Quality Management which can be added to their personal professional development portfolio.

The textbook is the CMQ/OE Primer and it can be obtained from the Quality Council of Indiana.

Course Description

This course is a review of the American Society for Quality’s (ASQ) Body of Knowledge for the Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence examination. The body of knowledge is reviewed and simulated examination practice tests are included to familiarize certification candidates with the ASQ examination test structures. The exam is scheduled by ASQ four times a year. This course is also a capstone course in the Quality Assurance Certificate and Master of Science, Quality Assurance degree programs.

Course Objectives

  1. Present comprehensive studies of the key elements of Quality Management and relate these tools to the role of the Quality Manager.
  2. Present a comprehensive overview of the requirements for effective management of the Quality Assurance Function including its role in supporting the organization's productivity control and improvement efforts. Provide the student with an understanding of key methods of Quality.
  3. Prepare the student to pass the semi-annual ASQ Certified Quality Managers Examination.
  4. Provide a capstone course in Quality Management to compliment three other Quality Management courses presented in the Master of Science Quality Assurance course at CSUDH.

This culminates in a certificate of achievement in the field of Quality Management.

NBQA 702 | Certified Quality Engineer Preparation Capstone

Course Description

The course will serve as a review of the ten major elements of the American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certified Quality Engineer examination. This course is planned to be completed just prior to the ASQ examination scheduled each June and December. Sample questions for applications and principles will be of a similar format as they appear on the ASQ examination.

Course Objectives

  1. Present a review of the major elements defining the body of knowledge stipulated by ASQ for the Certified Quality Engineer examination.
  2. Serve as a topical exposure to several of the courses presented by CSUDH Master of Science including areas of Statistical Process Control and Sampling, Design of Experiments, Reliability, Cost of Quality, Measurement (Metrology), Quality Management and Statistics.
  3. Provide a capstone course in Quality Engineering to compliment three other Quality courses presented in the Master of Science, Quality Assurance course at CSUDH. Those who successfully complete the three-credit courses listed below and the non-credit NBQA 702 Certified Quality Engineer Refresher Course earn a Certificate in Quality Engineering from CSUDH.

NBQA 703 | Certified Quality Auditor Preparation Capstone

Course Description

The course will serve as a review of the five (5) major elements of the American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certified Quality Auditor examination.

  1. General Knowledge, Conduct, Ethics & Audit Administration
  2. Audit Preparation
  3. Audit Performance
  4. Audit Reporting, Corrective Action, Follow-up & Closure
  5. Auditing Tools and Techniques

This course is planned to be completed just prior to the ASQ examination scheduled each June and December. Sample questions for applications and principles will be of a similar format as they appear on the ASQ examination.

Course Objectives

  2. Present a comprehensive overview of the standards, principles and techniques of auditing. Provide the student with an understanding of key methods of Quality Auditing.
  3. Provide a capstone course in Quality Auditing to compliment three other Quality courses presented in the Master of Science, Quality Assurance course at CSUDH. This culminates in a certificate of achievement in the field of Quality Auditing. Those who successfully complete the three-credit courses listed below and the non-credit NBQA 703 Certified Quality Auditor Refresher Course earn a Certificate in Quality Auditing from CSUDH.

NBQA 704 | Certified Reliability Engineer Preparation Capstone

Course Objective

To provide the student with fundamental and some advanced theories of reliability engineering. This Internet course is designed to assist the student in passing the ASQ Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) examination.

NBQA 709 | Certified Calibration Technician Examination Preparation Course

Course Description

The course provides an introduction and an overview of the seven major elements of the American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certified Calibration Technician (CCT) examination. Students will gain an understanding of the responsibilities required for a calibration technician. Please contact the Quality Office at 310-243-3352 for schedules. These courses can be refresher courses can be customized to suit individual or company schedules.

CSUDH Certificate Awards

CSUDH also offers Certificate Awards for students who complete three graduate level courses from the MSQA program and the appropriate capstone course. The student may take these courses through "open university" thus need not be enrolled in the MSQA program. Each student who satisfactorily completes a non-credit capstone course and the associated three graduate level credit courses from the MSQA program will be provided with a Certificate Award.
